WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump on Friday acknowledged the donor of the Republican Party and six other "extraordinary US" roles in the presidential election, the greatest honor being that the nation maintains a civilian reserve.
Individuals who "make a prominent contribution to American life and culture," have received the coin, Trump said, adding that he had the "right privilege" to show it to six people and a woman about entertainment, sport, law , politics and charity.
Miriam Adelson is a physician and friend of his wife Sheldon Adelson, a Las Vegas casino magnate, one of the strongest Republican donors. Adelsons gave $ 30 million to the Trump campaign in the last months of the 2016 race. He then donated $ 100 million to the Republican Party in mid-lasting mid-term elections.
Trump says that Miriam Adelson "is a man who worked so hard, he does not have to do it, but he does it 24 hours a day."
"Through decades of innovative research, charity and medical care, Miriam has helped thousands of people pause with drugs and addiction to alcohol," said Trump. "I know what you did, and you were really incredible."
Miriam Adelson is an Israeli born American citizen who has a medical degree at Tel Aviv University and has established drug treatment and research centers in Las Vegas and Tel Aviv. He and her husband are the newspaper of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Israel Hayom.
Adelsons are also eager to support Israel. Trump remarked "very happy" that he moved from the US Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Trump also acknowledged Sen. Orrin Hatch Utah. American history is one of the longest serving Republican senators, Hatch retires in January for more than 40 years. Trump called Hatchot a "great friend" who "loved me from the beginning and so I love him."
The Justice of the Supreme Court of Minnesota, Alan Page, who played NFL Minnesota Viking and Chicago Bears before entering the legal career and honored Roger Staubach, the Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarter-finals.
The posthumous awards were given by Elvis Presley, baseball Babe Ruth and Antonin Scalia, the Conservative Supreme Court Justice. Six of the nine judicial officers currently operating in the Supreme Court of the United States, including Brett Kavanaugh, took part in the White House celebration.
Trump says Ruth and Presley are "real legends" whose legacy lives forever.
Some have questioned Trump's decision to recognize Miriam Adelson soon after the November 6 elections.
Robert Weissman, President of Public Interest, President of Public Citizen, said the decision was "corrupt and transactional bureau of Donald Trump was emblematic."
But Elliott Abrams, who has held foreign policy positions under the chairmanship of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, called the complaints "ridiculous".
Abrams noted that Miriam Adelson donated time and money to overcome addiction. President Barack Obama has been awarded by Chita Rivera, Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand, Ellen DeGeneres and Warren Buffett.
"Those who did not say anything about this, and now criticize Dr. Adelson's coin, are just ugly and brave, and do not look at the remarkable knowledge and charity of the chemical addiction field," said Abrams.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said Trump used the process of former administration followed his nominees. The Staff Secretariat has been coordinated, according to the recommendations of the public, the relevant Presidential Advisory Boards, the Cabinet and the White House's senior staff.
The presidents have full discretion with respect for the Presidential Freedom of Speech.
The prize will be awarded to individuals who have made a particularly well-founded contribution to US security or national interests, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private efforts.
Miriam Adelson said that he "deeply humiliated and moved this extraordinary respect".
"Freedom is at the center of decades of work on combating drug addiction, drug addiction for slavery, family, family and society, and for dealing with emancipation," he said on a Thursday.
