Someone in South Carolina asked for a $ 1.5 billion jackpot from the Mega Millions Lottery in October 2018, which ended the mystery of ever coming to win.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, chose a one-time payment cash option, making their winnings worth nearly $ 878,000,000. This is the biggest jackpot prize for a single winner in the US S. history, according to a statement from the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission.

"We are delighted that the winner is a South Carolina Carolian and presents this remarkable prize," said Hogan Brown, Executive Director of the Committee.

South Carolina is just a handful of states that allow lottery winners to keep their identity secret. The rest are Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas.

As with the Associated Press reports, there has been so much speculation so far that the winner has not yet asked for the prize, being suspected of being involved in fleeing, dead or litigious law.

The winner retained the representation of the New York Rivkin Radler Law Firm.

The winning numbers were 5,28,62,65, 70, and 5 mega.
