Biden announces the White House’s full women’s communications team


“I am proud to announce today the White House’s first senior communications team, made up entirely of women. These trained, experienced communicators open up a wide range of perspectives in their work and contribute with a shared commitment to better building the country,” Biden said in a statement.

Jen Psaki, who was President Barack Obama’s director of White House communications, will be the White House’s press secretary.

Kate Bedingfield, who was deputy campaign manager and communications director for the campaign, will be the White House communications director. Pili Tobar, who was the communications director for the campaign coalitions, will be the deputy communications director for the White House.

Karine Jean-Pierre, senior adviser to the Biden campaign, who later served as Harris ’chief of staff, will be the chief press secretary.

Symone Sanders, the campaign’s senior Biden advisor, is the vice president’s senior advisor and High Representative. Ashley Etienne, senior advisor to the Biden campaign, is the vice president of communications.

Elizabeth E. Alexander, senior advisor to the Biden campaign, will be communications director for first lady Jill Biden.
