Oster said he launched the website for personal gain. Her own children go to school in person and she believes this can be done safely. Oster also does not believe that schools are the main source of the virus spread.
But Oster also criticizes the lack of data.
“No one is collecting systematic data, and that seems like a huge oversight,” he said.
So he started doing it – but first he says his data is incomplete. “At this point, we really have the most comprehensive data,” he said.
“If we can get more states involved, it can help us understand these patterns and share information about what works and what doesn’t,” Oster added.
“It is clear to me that a federally funded, organized effort to do so could potentially be better. We need more resources to solve the problem.”
The CDC had no immediate comment on Oster’s reaction.
Redfield did not insist that all schools pursue immediate personal education
