Covid aid depends on the victory of the Georgian Senate in Warnock, Ossoff

President-elect Joe Biden warned in a new announcement that the plan to defeat the coronavirus epidemic has two Democrats winning a run-off in Georgia that will determine which party controls the Senate.

“There are people in Congress who are threatening to do everything they can to block our efforts,” Biden said, calling Georgian voters straight into the camera to choose the hopes of the Democratic Senate, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

The one-minute ad, produced by the Ossoff and Warnock campaigns, debuted on Thursday, less than three weeks before the January 5 election crisis in the apricot state. The election determines which party will take control of the senate. The ad, which Biden was the first to support Warnock and Ossoff, also came days after early voting began in the state.

Georgia sensor Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue need to keep their place for the GOP to keep its edge in the chamber. Tight competition has become the nation’s most important political battlefield following President Biden’s victory over Donald Trump.

If Ossoff and Warnock win, both sides will have 50 seats and Vice President Kamala Harris will be the draw.

Biden was personally campaigning in Georgia this week, while Trump traveled there in early December to hold a rally for Loeffler and Perdue, who are against Warnock and Ossoff, respectively. Vice President Mike Pence will fly to the state on Thursday to make his remarks.

Biden provided a detailed outline of how his administration will handle the coronavirus epidemic when he takes office on January 20th. But the ad warned that without a democratic majority in the Senate, his first-day plan would not happen.

“Georgia, I know things are hard now. But I want you to know help is on its way,” Biden said in the ad.

“My administration is preparing to defeat Covid-19 and provide economic assistance to the American people. On the first day as President, I am ready to sign a Covid aid package that will fully fund the necessary public health response, under Georgia’s own leadership. .CCDC.It provides testing and vaccinations for all Americans and gets the help that small businesses currently need, ”he said.

“Let me be clear: I need Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in the U.S. Senate to do this,” Biden warned. “There are people in Congress who threaten to do everything they can to thwart our efforts.”

“We need to get out and vote for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. We need them in the Senate. God bless America and God bless our troops,” Biden said.

The most important races are taking place in the midst of the worst phase of the pandemic in the United States to date.

As health officials warned, with the advent of winter, a record number of cases occurred, leading to new high levels in hospital care. On Monday, the United States exceeded the tragic milestone of 300,000 deaths caused by the virus. The worsening crisis follows the failure to negotiate an additional Covid relief package on Capitol Hill for months.

Partisans disputing the terms of the convention have blocked the delivery of much-needed aid to Americans whose livelihoods and businesses have been ruined by severe restrictions by the virus and state leaders to slow the spread of the disease. Lawmakers indicated this week that they are finally approaching an agreement.

Trump, who refuses to let Biden in and falsely claims to have won re-election, has largely ignored the staggering increase in deaths and incidents. Rather, Trump emphasizes the introduction of vaccines, including Pfizer, which was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use.

But the vaccines, despite its record development time, will not immediately free the United States from Covid’s grip. Dr. Anthony Fauci, a White House coronavirus adviser who will join the Biden administration next month, said on Wednesday that the nation could return to one of normal conditions by mid-fall 2021 if enough people are vaccinated.

Georgia, like other states, has the highest number of Covid cases to date. Biden focused on the pandemic when he traveled to the state on Tuesday – the president-elect had campaigned for the first time since defeating Trump – to stagger for Warnock and Ossoff.

“We need funding to test and distribute vaccines. We need to get money right into people’s pockets right away,” Biden said at a tour of Atlanta.

“We can achieve so much that would make the lives of the people of Georgia and the country much better, and we need senators who are willing to do that.”
