Diego Maradona’s ex-girlfriend was refused entry to the presidential palace on Saturday before dawn on the orders of his former wife, an Argentine football legend.
Rocio Oliva arrived at Casa Rosada at 4:40 a.m. in the hope of saying goodbye to Maradona, whose coffin was in condition, and the security guard behind the gate immediately informed him that the area had not been admitted.
A tear-eyed Oliva’s request for admission remained unheard of and he was instructed to return at 7 a.m. and wait with tens of thousands of online fans waiting for their last respect overnight.
– I can’t come at seven in the morning. It’s crazy, it’s crazy, ”Oliva said on live television. ‘You can’t do it. I can not come. He wants me to come back with all the people at seven in the morning.
Oliva and Maradona dated for six and a half years before they terminated their relationship in 2018.

Oliva told the Argentine network of Todos Noticias that she could not explain the reason for Claudia Villafañe’s decision to forbid her to go to the presidential palace through an entrance set up for Maradona’s loved ones and close friends.
– I was Diego’s last partner. I was the woman Diego asked. I mean, no one understands that, ”Oliva said as she struggled with tears. “They don’t think of Diego for a minute.” He’s dead and there are only wounds. It hurts.’
The open visit began at 6:15 a.m. local time, after a few hours of privacy for family and close friends.
First, his daughters and close family members said goodbye. Villafañe came with Maradona’s daughters, Dalma and Gianinna. Later, Verónica Ojeda, also married to their son, Dieguito Fernando.
Mourning football fans clashed with police later in the morning and stood up to pay their respects to Maradona as doctors accused of criminal idiocy over the death of a Argentine legend’s lawyer.
Confusions erupted as fans rushed to get in and look at the coffin, which was covered with an Argentine flag and a shirt signed with Maradona No. 10, after arriving early this morning with an ambulance.
A long line of mourners flowed past Maradona’s body, clapping, pumping their fists, and throwing flowers, flags, and football shirts at the coffin’s feet on the first day of three days of Argentine national mourning.
According to the Interior Ministry, the fan list was stopped at 1:36 p.m. The family mentioned earlier that the visit would end at 4 p.m.

Oliva, who is the host of America TV Polémica en el bar evening talk show [Controversy at the bar], vowed Wednesday night to take part in waking up after a football legend died earlier in the day on a heart attack day.
Oliva said she last saw the 60-year-old Maradona on October 30 and claimed she was not in the best of circumstances.
“When I saw it, I didn’t see it well, and I made myself available.” He didn’t have to be home, he had to go to the hospital, he said.
The last hours of the lives of the former Naples and Barcelona star were played out by the Argentine media on Wednesday night, when an autopsy was expected to show that he died as a result of a massive heart attack.
Ambulances made an unsuccessful attempt to resuscitate him after arriving at the rented house in a gated housing estate in San Andres, north of Buenos Aires, and moved to Nov. 11 after leaving the hospital after undergoing surgery for a blood clot on Nov. 4.
Lawyer Matias Morla said on Thursday that Maradona had been left without help for at least 12 hours before Wednesday’s death, two weeks after she had brain surgery to remove the blood clot.
“It’s inexplicable that my friend didn’t monitor or inspect the staff who were destined for this purpose for 12 hours,” he said.
Morla also claimed it was “criminal idiocy” that an ambulance took 30 minutes and vowed to have the circumstances of Maradona’s death “investigated to the last”.
