Son of President-elect Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, on Wednesday revealed Delaware federal prosecutors are investigating his tax affairs.
The probe was unveiled five days before Joe Biden, a former Delaware senator, is expected to be formally elected next president by the Electoral College.
Hunter Biden said in a statement: “I first learned yesterday that the U.S. Delaware Attorney’s Office had also advised my legal counsel yesterday to investigate my tax cases.”
“I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these cases will show that I have handled my cases legally and properly, including the benefits of professional tax advisors,” Hunter Biden said.
Hunter Biden, whose late brother, Beau Biden, was the Attorney General of Delaware before his death, did not disclose other details of the trial.
David Weiss, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney at Delaware, did not respond immediately to the request for comment.
