For at least a day, Mitchell Trubisky was better than Deshaun Watson.

Trubisky, the much-angered quarterback selected by the Bears in the 2017 NFL draft, with 10 selectors ahead of Texas Watson, played very well today in a 36-7 win over the Texans. Trubisky scored 24 of 33 passes at 267 yards, with three touchdowns and no interception. It was one of the best bear games.

Watson played an ugly game in Houston’s disastrous performance. His numbers don’t look awful – he reached 220 yards out of 21/30 without a touchdown and there are no interceptions – but many of those yards came in garbage time and he was fired six times as well.

A win of 6-7 will improve the Bears ’seasonal record and allow them to cling to their lean playoff hopes. The Texans are falling 4-9 and are not going anywhere fast. In Houston, all you have to focus on is figuring out how to put a team around Watson that doesn’t see redundancy losses fired six times in 2021 and beyond.
