A mother lured the internet with a simple austerity trick that is so simple that thousands say they wish they had done it their whole lives.

Brooke of Brisbane revealed in a Facebook post that he and his family store bread in double slices in Ziploc bags so no one goes to waste and is never caught without it.

“It’s a simple but useful trick,” Brooke said.

“Since we only deal with my son, we don’t go through a lot of bread, I always freeze it in two slices, so neither goes to waste and we always have fresh bread.”

Hundreds were impressed with the simple trick, writing comments like “it’s awesome” and “such a practical idea.”

“Great job for school lunches, half the job,” a mother declared.

“I only get two slices the night before, so they’re ready to make a sandwich for breakfast,” added another.

Some have gone so far as to say that they freeze their own slices with a ready-made smear on top so the bread is ready when they pack lunch for their children.

“I’m myself and I kept my bread in the fridge,” a woman wrote.
