CHARLESTON, WV (WSAZ) – President-elect Joe Biden approached Sheryl Johnson, the mother of fallen Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson, on Monday night.
Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin shared this news a few hours after Officer Johnson was laid to rest forever after a hero’s funeral service at the Charleston Colosseum and Convention Center. Goodwin said Biden called Sheryl Johnson.
The nearly two-hour funeral Tuesday afternoon brought out law enforcement officers and many members of the community from Charleston and beyond.
Officer Johnson died last week after being shot while on duty while answering a Garrison Avenue traffic call.
There is no detailed information about Biden’s conversation with Sheryl Johnson.
