Quarantine of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after exposure to COVID-19

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be quarantined after being exposed to COVID-19, his office announced Wednesday. It is not clear when and how Pompeo was exposed to the virus. “Secretary Pompeo turned out to have contacted someone who gave a positive result for COVID,” the department said in a statement. “The secretary tested and negative.”

Pompeo, along with other White House officials, violated his administration’s public health policies by continuing to hold huge indoor parties – some in five numbers and taxpayers taking over the paper – while COVID-19 is destroying the nation. Pompeo said a festive party should have been held on Tuesday Politicobut later pulled it out. Of the 900 guests, Pompeo invited him to his Tuesday shindig, 70 of them gave RSVPs, and fewer appeared, The Washington Post reported. While the State Department said they were wearing masks and social distancing at the party, the Post showed participants that they eat and drink sans masks. At the event, a masked Santa Claus walked to mingle with the guests, the Post.
