U.S. stocks were higher during Friday’s abbreviated holiday session as gains in shares of technology and healthcare companies pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to new closing records.
The wide S&P 500 added 0.4% in recent trading, while the Nasdaq reached 1.1%, both schedules pace ahead of the previous closing height set earlier this week. The Dow Jones industry average also hit a higher rate, gaining 56 points to 29,930, but fell short of reaching the new milestone.
