The coldest air arrives Tuesday night as cool weather continues in South Florida

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. “Winter began its initial strike in South Florida on Tuesday morning, but the coldest air is waiting to arrive in the evening.

Many of us gathered a bit because we felt low temperatures this morning in the top 50s and stayed for the afternoon peak in the 60s.

Today it was about 15 degrees colder than the average first day of December.

The chilled air continues to slide down the state, pushing lows tonight from places in the mid-40s to the top of the beaches. Miami and the rest of the coast are likely to keep the low 50s tonight and early Wednesday morning.

A shift in wind direction will result in a gradual warming trend for the rest of the week. On Wednesday afternoons, the low 70s last until Thursday through the mid-70s. We return to normal levels on Friday, peaking at 80.

But that’s not the only cold in the forecast, as the winter fronts are on the move. More shots from cool air are moving this weekend and next week as well, keeping our long-term forecast on the cold side.
