When Cemal Senturk was rescued to the Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon on January 14, his dog, Boncuk, escaped from their apartment and followed him to the facility, where he waited patiently every day.
Hospital staff informed Senturk’s family of the whereabouts of his canine friend.
But after Boncuk was brought home, she managed to escape again – and returned to the hospital every day, Murat Ercan, director of the hospital’s international patient center, told CNN.
The hospital said Senturk’s apartment was nearby and the family was unsure if the dog had fled any further.
“His dog,‘ Boncuk, ’followed him to the hospital gate and refused to leave for six days until his owner was released,” Ercan said in a statement.
“Despite the family [took] Boncuk back home he managed to escape every day to wait at the hospital gate. “
To try to reassure and comfort Senturk during his stay at the facility, he communicated with Boncuk through the window.
But his devoted four-legged friend refused to leave until Senturk did.
“Cemal Senturk had been to Boncuk for nine years and also stated that he missed her very much during her hospital stay,” he said.
“After he was allowed to go out, he met his dog at the hospital gate. Boncuk was very kind during the six days and managed to catch the love and attraction of the whole staff.”
