A North Korean man who was able to break a heavily reinforced 10-meter fence at the border this month told South Korean officials he was able to perform the feat because he was a gymnast. The suspected Seoul authorities twice made a similar jump with the man to show that he had a bona fide defect, The Korean messenger reported. What is still unclear is why the November 4 invasion of the Demilitarized Zone did not trigger an alarm and the investigation is still ongoing. The man was apprehended on foot 14 hours after he managed to cross the border, according to Yonhap news agency.
