The Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter helped Utah Department of Wildlife Resources with a task in the remote Utah wilderness when those on board noticed a mysterious object in the middle of nowhere.
The crew found a shiny metal monolith planted in the middle of a red rock bay.
- “One of the biologists was the one who spotted it and we happened to be flying right over the top,” pilot Bret Hutchings told KSL-TV. “It was like, ‘Wow, hey, hey, turn around, turn around!’ And I was like “us.” And he says, “There’s something here – we have to look!”
- “I’d say it’s probably 10 to 12 feet tall,” Hutchings said. “Somehow we joked that if one of us suddenly disappears, the others will run for it.”
Hutchings said the item didn’t look like it had grown from there. Rather, it was planted there, according to KSL-TV.
- “We thought this NASA was stuck there or something.” Are satellites bouncing off it or something? Hutchings asked.
The monolith has picked up news worldwide, and it’s only just beginning. Websites like AV Club, HuffPost, ScreenCrush, The Guardian, and the Daily Mail wrote about the mysterious subject.
The Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Geological Survey have not yet commented on the monolith to any business. Our tip is as good as yours.
