Los Angeles County – Golf star Tiger Woods was injured Tuesday when a vehicle overturned in Los Angeles County.
“Tiger Woods had a car accident this morning in California, where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” said his agent, Mark Steinberg. “We are currently undergoing surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
Woods had to be pulled out of the vehicle by “jaws of life” devices, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The vehicle was badly damaged, the sheriff’s department said.
A KABC-TV helicopter at the scene of the Woods accident was parked with a car on its side, the front of which was badly damaged. Airbags seemed to be deployed. The wreckage seemed to be just on the side of a road on the hillside.
Woods, named Eldrick, was the only passenger in the vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.
The accident happened shortly before 7:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, officials said.
