President Donald Trump is said to be worried that he will be embarrassed by his campaign law team, led by Rudy Giuliani’s personal lawyer, who have failed in a series of cases disputing the results of the US election.
Three weeks after the November 3 vote, Trump continues to complain about widespread irregularities without providing evidence, and his campaign has brought cases in several key states.
So far, however, they have not been successful, and many of their cases have been dropped by state courts.
According to NBC News, the president is concerned that the legal team for his campaign is made up of “fools” whose failures and outside press appearances “show him badly,” a source said.
On Saturday, a Pennsylvania federal judge, Matthew Brann, ruled out an order to stop officials from declaring Joe Biden a winner in the state, noting that the Trump campaign “presented tense legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations … no supported by evidence. “
On Sunday, Sidney Powell was effectively ousted by Trump’s legal team after proposing that the Republican governor and Secretary of State in Georgia be part of a conspiracy to elect Joe Biden.
Mr Giuliani and Trump’s other lawyer, Jenna Ellis, then said in a statement that Sidney Powell was “not a member of the Trump Legal Team” and also “not a personal lawyer for the president.”
Beyond the essence of their legal claims, Trump’s campaign lawyers also called for ridicule with a series of strange events with the media. These include a press conference at a local small business called Four Seasons Total Landscaping, not the Four Seasons Hotel, and a briefing where Mr. Giuliani’s hair dye seemed to run down his face.
Even the president’s fiercest allies and supporters criticized the failed legal challenges when he called for the defeat to be accepted. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie pointed to Powell’s unsubstantiated allegations on Sunday and called Trump’s national team “national embarrassment”.
NBC News reported that several such allies handed over their recklessness to a seemingly ill-considered legal strategy directly to the White House.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, finally put up with allowing the transition process to begin late Monday “for the benefit of our country,” but still vowed to continue his legal battles in the election, stating in a tweet that he would “never give up.”
