The Trump campaign rejects Sidney Powell’s relationship with lawyer after Thursday’s press conference at the far-flung Trump campaign, claiming, without evidence, that the late Hugo Chávez, among others, was responsible for the election fraud. The campaign claimed he was “not a member of Trump’s legal team,” despite the fact that the president and Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, had previously identified him on the team.
In the days since the press conference, Powell has made further unfounded claims against conservative networks, and his allegations have even been questioned by Fox News Tucker Carlson after refusing to present evidence on the show.
“Sidney Powell exercises the law alone. He is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. In his personal capacity, he is not even the president’s attorney,” said Giuliani and Jump Ellis, Trump’s senior campaign counsel.
At Thursday’s press conference, Giuliani identified Powell as a member of Mr. Trump’s defense team, and the president himself named Powell as his employee in a tweet on November 14th.
“I look forward to Mayor Giuliani leading the legal effort to defend our RIGHT TO FREE AND FAIR CHOICE! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, a really great team, complemented our other wonderful attorneys and our representative!” Trump tweeted then.
Powell issued this statement to CBS News:
“I understand today’s press release,” she said. “I continue to represent #WeThePeople, whose vote against Trump and other Republicans has been stolen with huge fraud through Dominion and Smartmatic, and we will be suing soon. The chips are where they can be and we are defending the foundations of this great Republic. #KrakenOnSteroids “
On Thursday, Ellis called the team holding the press conference, which was also attended by Powell, the “elite strike team.” Powell, Giuliani and Ellis claimed to withhold the greatest evidence in court where they they continue to lose litigation.
Powell was the president’s former national security adviser, General Michal Flynn’s attorney, who was lied to Vice President Mike Pence for his Russian connections and convicted of lying to the FBI.
